Daniel Belland is a composer, pianist, flautist, and music director based in Edmonton, Alberta. As a composer, he was one of two high school students to be selected for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s Young Composer’s Project, under the mentorship of Robert Rival. Daniel was also the 2012 winner of the Canadian Music Centre’s Emerging Composer Competition. His music has been performed by the orchestras in Edmonton and Winnipeg, as well as at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. He holds a Bachelor of Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music with a major in Composition with Distinction from MacEwan University.
Daniel is available for hire as a composer, arranger, orchestrator, pianist, flautist, music director, and accompanist.

Daniel is currently composing the score for Cult Cycle: a new musical, with book and lyrics by Stephen Allred, Bethany Hughes, and Seth Gilfillan. Produced by Straight Edge Theatre, it will have a workshop reading on June 7, 2018 as part of Nextfest2018, and will receive its world premiere production as part of the 2018 Edmonton International Fringe Festival, August 16-26.

Daniel was thrilled to be the winner of the Edmonton Pops Orchestra’s inaugaral Edmonton Composer’s Competition. His winning work Precipice Waltz was premiered at the 43rd Annual Strauss Ball.
